Director of Sales

STATUS: Full-time permanent
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
LOCATION: On-site, Chesapeake, VA

Position Summary:

We are looking for a high-performing Director of Sales. The successful candidate will meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives.

We believe that a successful sales team makes connections with its customers and creates long-lasting relationships. As the Director of Sales for Decisions, you will be responsible for making sure the entire team falls in line with that goal. You’ll be managing a team of 15-20 Sales Associates in a thriving B2B marketplace. We’re looking for a self-starting professional with managerial experience and a proven track record in sales. The ideal candidate will look forward to coming to work each day and helping our clients find the best software programs that work best for them.

Sales director responsibilities include developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve your financial targets. Sales director duties will include hitting annual targets, building relationships and understanding customer trends. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Functions

  • Meet and exceed all quarterly and annual sales quotas.
  • Create and drive revenue within a specified region.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers as well as develop account plans for new relationships.
  • Navigate through an enterprise organization to leverage cross-selling opportunities.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base
  • Generate leads from tradeshows and regional networking events.
  • Accurately forecast quarterly and monthly sales.
  • Possess a full understanding of customers’ specific decision-making and purchasing process.
  • Acquire and integrate industry knowledge related to general trends, emerging technologies, and competitors.
  • Report on key KPIs related to the lead and the opportunity waterfall in order to implement a consistent closed-loop between marketing and sales.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams and fosters a culture of continuous process improvement.
  • Communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations.

Experience

10+ years experience in direct or outside sales (B2B a plus) with in-depth knowledge of marketing techniques and best practices experience including but not limited to:

  • Communicate distinct aspects of products and services, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.
  • Drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Demonstrable experience as head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions.
  • Understand the impact of operational initiatives from a sales or marketing person’s perspective.
  • Analyze data, build reports and make strategic recommendations based on data and trends.
  • Keen business sense, with the ability to find creative business-oriented solutions to problems.

Technical Certification and Education

  • Masters or higher in relevant field
