Vice President of Engineering

Decisions, a well-established profitable and growing multinational company offering a no-code business automation platform, has reached that exciting part of its evolution, where more formality and adherence to industry best practices and standards is needed to grow its local and distributed engineering team to deliver on the growth plans outlined by management.

With that, Decisions is looking for someone possessing deep engineering leadership skills who embraces the opportunity to be a strategic partner with leadership to shape the engineering team, define the relevant technologies, manage budgets, and realize the product development vision in a winning culture that values honesty, empathy, and gratitude for clients and team.

During the first year, the successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the product offerings and production platform
  • Evaluate technical staff developmental needs and create individual development plans
  • Enable code containerization
  • Re-envision core platform functionality and technology to enable scale as well as add-on acquisitions integration
  • Create a multi year technology roadmap to include
    • desired technology stack
    • plan for enforcing best SDLC practices
    • technical resource staffing model

Essential Functions

  • Engages with senior management to determine strategic direction and priorities
  • Keeps pace with the emerging technologies to ensure relevancy of the company’s platform
  • Recruit, train and mentor staffing to continually fulfill the engineering needs of the business
  • Manages projects, teams, budgets and costs to deliver and maintain the growing product suite
  • Collaborates with product and marketing teams and Managing Director of Technology in fulfilling strategic objectives
  • Efficiently manage and grow remote and off-shore development and support resources
  • Leverages and demands a data driven decision paradigm
  • Ability to integrate into a dynamic agile environment is essential to succeeding in this role

Minimum Qualifications

  • Track record of developing future proofed platforms with a team of skilled engineers
  • Demonstrated technology leadership within a related industry
  • Experience in attracting, inspiring, hiring and retaining software engineers
  • Communication, presentation and speaking skills to deliver reviews, training, and updates to management, board members, and staff
  • Confidence to engage with clients through one-on-one dialog or group presentations in support of client goals or marketing objectives
  • Technology experience:
    • Developing large scale transactional/web elastic systems, with Microservices, or API driven architecture
    • Experience with .net, SQL Server, and related Microsoft technologies preferred
    • Managing data sets with the necessary system design to make data accessible
    • Extensive knowledge of architecting and delivering cloud-based services (AWS or Azure)
