Decisions Recognized as a Challenger in the Inaugural Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ and Critical Capabilities for Decision Intelligence Platforms Report

January 28, 2026

Decisions has been recognized as a Challenger in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Decision Intelligence Platforms (DIPs), marking a major milestone for both the platform and the broader evolution of decision-centric architecture.

This is the first-ever Magic Quadrant dedicated to DIPs, reflecting that the market has matured to a point where formal evaluation is warranted.

The Inaugural Magic Quadrant

According to Gartner, DIPs are software solutions designed to support, automate, and augment decision-making for humans and machines. These platforms bring together data, analytics, knowledge, and AI, while also enabling collaboration across decision modeling, execution, monitoring, and governance.

In Gartner’s view, DIPs are used to:

  • Explicitly model decisions
  • Orchestrate decision execution flows
  • Govern and audit decision outcomes
  • Support decision-centric solution design at scale

The creation of this Magic Quadrant reflects a broader industry move toward engineered, governable decisions as a core enterprise capability.

How Gartner Positioned Decisions

In the 2026 Magic Quadrant for DIPs, Decisions ranked highest in the Challenger category, reflecting very strong execution and a focused approach to decision orchestration and governance.

In Gartner’s accompanying Critical Capabilities for Decision Intelligence Platforms report, Decisions scored among the top five vendors across all four evaluated use cases, pointing to strong performance across the full scope of decision intelligence requirements.

This recognition reinforces the platform’s strength within the use-cases:

  • Decision Stewardship (#1 of 17), highlighting industry-leading strengths in governance, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Decision Analysis (#4 of 17), showing solid support for analytical decisioning and rules driven workflows.
  • Decision Engineering (#4 of 17), reflecting strong orchestration, modeling, and execution capabilities.
  • Decision Science (#5 of 17), demonstrating competitive support for blended decision approaches that integrate analytics and logic.

Collectively, the data suggests that the Decisions platform is well rounded, enabling decision automation from design through execution and oversight, and providing enterprises with the structural rigor and functional depth required to scale decision processes.

There is a growing enterprise need to move beyond isolated automation, rules engines, or AI models. Instead, organizations are looking for platforms that can engineer decisions end to end, from design through execution and governance.

Decisions addresses this need by enabling organizations to:

  • Design decisions explicitly and collaboratively
  • Orchestrate decision logic across systems, workflows, and AI models
  • Maintain visibility, auditability, and compliance across decision outcomes

This approach supports explainable, accountable decision-making, even as organizations scale AI-driven initiatives.

Decision Intelligence in a Post-AI-Hype World

As enterprises accelerate AI adoption, the challenge is no longer generating insights, but rather ensuring those insights result in trusted, governed decisions that align with business intent.

Organizations adopting Decision Intelligence Platforms are realizing tangible benefits, including improved agility, better governance, and more consistent decision outcomes.

Decisions’ inclusion in this inaugural Magic Quadrant signals both the advancement of the platform and the growing recognition of decision engineering as a strategic discipline.

Looking Ahead

Recognition in Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for DIPs marks an important step forward for Decisions and for organizations investing in decision-centric operations. As enterprises continue to balance automation, AI, and governance, decision intelligence will play an increasingly critical role in turning data and models into outcomes leaders can trust.
